Great to Know: Advising Edition

March 20th, 2018 Comments Off on Great to Know: Advising Edition

The summer and fall 2018 class schedule is now visible! Please take a moment to review the Master Class Schedule, and draft your summer and/or fall schedules before your advising appointment.

Faculty advising for pre-registration is March 19 through March 30 this semester. All students must meet with their advisor before registering summer or fall classes. Advisors will post sign-up sheets outside of their office door, or email you a link to schedule your appointment online. Please be sure to check the date of your appointment; advisors may offer appointments on any day during the advising period.

Advising Tips

Ø  The advisor list has been posted in the Art main office (Freeman Hall) on the bulletin board just past the front desk. You can also find out who your advisor(s) is by logging into myState, clicking the Banner tab, selecting the View Student Record link, and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

o   If you have more than one major, you will need to be released by an advisor from both of your majors to register for classes.

o   Advisors are also listed on the top of your CAPP Compliances.

Ø  Once you’ve selected your advising appointment, add it to your calendar so you don’t miss it.

Ø  Pre-registration worksheets are in the folder that is attached to the Art office glass door.

o   Your advising appointment is 20 minutes; draft your schedule before your meeting so you can discuss other items with your advisor as well.

Ø  Finalize your summer and/or fall schedule before leaving campus for the summer.

o   With multiple summer orientation sessions, it is possible for all of our sections to fill over the summer. Don’t miss your chance to take a class you need; register for classes before you leave for the summer!
