This May, twelve students from Art and Interior Design took part in The Chair, a class taught by Professor Critz Campbell.

Over just three weeks, students worked with vacuum pressing techniques to create common laminated back and seat elements. Then they designed and drafted unique chairs incorporating the seat and back elements. A field trip to Birmingham allowed students to purchase quality woods for their projects, including maple, walnut, oak, and purple heart.

Each month the magazine picks ten inspirational websites from around the world. For June 2011, the magazine selected Professor Mixon’s website, noting the way the site showcases her “illustrative design style.”

James meet Jamie!

Verizon Arena recently honored Professor Jamie Burwell Mixon by asking her to present one of her posters to the legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor.

Mixon has designed and illustrated concert posters for Verizon since 2004.
