The Mississippi State University Department of Art is pleased to host two exhibitions from January 17-February 29, 2012.

Adelaide Paul: Consumption
Visual Arts Center Gallery
808 University Drive, Starkville, MS
Gallery Hours: Tue-Fri 10-4pm
Closing Reception: Tuesday, February 28, 5:30-7pm

Adelaide Paul received her MFA from Louisiana State University and currently teaches anatomy at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her ceramic sculptures of animals are depicted as though illogically crossbred with furniture. Her work stands in opposition to breeding animals as commodities, particularly because as commodities they are by nature disposable. The Department of Art would like to thank the College of Veterinary Medicine for co-sponsoring Adelaide Paul’s exhibition.

Dylan Collins: Color Coded
McComas Gallery
Gallery Hours: Tue-Fri 10-4pm
Closing Reception: Tuesday, February 28, 6:30-8pm

Dylan Collins received his MFA from Kent State University and currently teaches sculpture and design at West Virginia University. His steel, rubber, plastic, and cast aluminum sculptures imitate anatomical models of bodily systems. By fragmenting his forms and introducing illogical elements into the system, his work opposes popular culture’s imposed order on the human body.
