Brent Funderburk, professor and thesis coordinator in the Department of Art at Mississippi State University, will present an illustrated talk, “Walter Anderson’s Symphony of Animals,” at the Mississippi Museum of Art (MMA) in Jackson on Nov. 19, 2013, as a part of the “Unburied Treasures” series at the museum. There will also be a live performance by the Ensemble Polonaise. Funding is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities through the Mississippi Humanities Council.

On Feb. 8, 2014, Funderburk will present another lecture, “Walter Inglis Anderson: A World Vision for Art, Nature, and Man,” at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, La. Funderburk gave this presentation to an MSU campus audience in February of 2013. (Read more)

Finally, Funderburk will curate an exhibition of Anderson’s works and give a related presentation at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA) in Ocean Springs in March.  A one-person show of some thirty-five artworks, “New Solar Myths: Paintings and Drawings of Brent Funderburk,” will be featured at WAMA from January to April, 2014.
