Brent Funderburk, professor of art and fine arts thesis coordinator at Mississippi State University, will present “Infinite Simplicity: Readings from Robert Henri’s The Art Spirit” at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson on Tues., Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.

The illustrated talk is part of the presentation of the exhibition, “Spanish Sojourns- Robert Henri and the Spirit of Spain,” currently showing through January 4, 2015 at the museum.

Roger Ward, Ph.D, curator of the exhibit, “Robert Henri and Spain, Face to Face,” will also speak about the influence of Spain and Spanish artists on Robert Henri, and a performance by the Ensemble Polonaise will present music related to Henri’s Spanish travels.

Funding for the evening’s presentations is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities through the Mississippi Humanities Council and Trustmark. The event is free to the public.

Funderburk has taught for thirty-two years at Mississippi State University and is currently lecturing on subjects such as Robert Henri, Walter Anderson and his recent series of paintings, “New Solar Myths: Dreams of Palladio.”
