Paul Prudhomme, a graphic design student in the Department of Art at Mississippi State University, recently had a photograph accepted into the New York Photo Festival’s “PhotoWorld 2014 Invitational.”

“The PhotoWorld 2014 Invitational” was juried by three top experts working in the field of photography today: Jim Casper, Neil Harris and Elizabeth Griffin. Out of the thousands of submissions received, seventy-four finalists were chosen including twenty-one student finalists in the documentary and fine art categories. The competition was part of the New York Photo Festival and was open to all photographers and artists over the age of 18.

The image selected for the publication was created in Assistant Professor Dominic Lippillo’s digital photography class in the fall of 2014.

“Paul pushed himself out of his comfort zone for the project this image was part of, and he has achieved great results in doing so,” said Lippillo. “He has a wonderful photographic eye that is becoming even more mature the longer he makes photographs. I am excited for him to be part of this NYC exhibition!”

“The PhotoWorld 2014” exhibition opening reception took place at The POWERHOUSE Arena in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept. 26 on the opening day of the world-famous Dumbo Arts Festival. The exhibition will be on view through November 10.
