The Mississippi State University Graphic Design Senior BFA Portfolio Exhibit will be open to the public from Tues., April 28th through Fri., May 8th 2015 at the Cullis Wade Depot Art Gallery.

The title of this year’s show is “Offset.” The public is invited to a reception honoring 23 graduating seniors beginning at 5 p.m. on Tues., April 28th at the Cullis Wade Depot Art Gallery. A wide array of portfolio work including: posters, illustration, packaging, editorial design, typography, advertising design, visual identity design, web design, video work, and self-promotional materials will be displayed throughout the week-long exhibit. In addition to physical displays of work, the students’ portfolio books will be available to view the night of the reception. Visit the “Offest” senior portfolio website www.offsetmsu.com for a preview.

In addition to viewing wonderful design, visitors to the reception will enjoy free coffee, food and refreshments provided by City Bagel.

To come up with their theme, the student designers drew from two different definitions of the word offset. One definition means to create an equal balance between two things, and the other references a specific style of printing through plate impressions. Drawing from both meanings, the students created an environment that showcases their individual styles and collective talent all the while giving those who attend a chance to create a little artwork of their own.

The Cullis Wade Depot Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the MSU Welcome Center next to Barnes and Noble. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information, contact the Department of Art at 662.325.2970.

The MSU Graphic Design Program is in the MSU Department of Art within the College of Architecture, Art and Design. In August of 2009, the program was featured in an article and name one of HOW Magazine’s three design schools that “should be on your radar.” For more information, contact Professor Jamie Mixon, graphic design coordinator at 662.325.1904.

The MSU Graphic Design Program continues to mold its students into excellent designers and prepares them for life after college. This semester of students is truly exceptional, so come check out their excellent work!
