MSU Graphic Design students have won the tops awards in a national design competition, the 2012 National REAL Show. Paige McDonnell won best-of-show and Allison Keller won a gold medal in the show, which is sponsored by the Art Director’s Club of Washington, DC. There were 284 entries from 11 different schools and only 26 pieces were selected for inclusion. The judges were Nancy Bratton of Nancy Bratton Design, Tim Cripps of Threespot, and Scott Rier of Kinetik.

The work was created in Professor Jamie Burwell Mixon’s Graphic Design 2 class this semester. Students illustrated and designed theater posters for the play, Amazons and Their Men.

Allison Keller

The Real Show is an annual competition giving college students from around the nation the opportunity to solve real-life communication design problems. This year, students competed in the areas of identity, app design, poster design and editorial design. The work will be exhibited at the DC Design Center in Washington in April.
