The Mississippi State University Department of Art is holding two concurrent exhibitions with receptions on March 22nd: The Student Competitive Show and the AIGA Show.

The Student Competitive Show is held annually, and all MSU students were invited to submit works to be shown. The work in the exhibition was selected by two jurors outside of the University. The 2012 jurors are Dr. Lisa Freiman and Brigid McCarren. Dr. Freiman is senior curator of contemporary art at the Indianapolis Museum of Fine Art. She served as U.S. Commissioner to the 2011 Venice Biennale, a significant international contemporary art exhibition. Brigid McCarren is the Art Director for HOW Magazine, a major journal and resource for the field of graphic design. The AIGA Show is an exhibition of work produced by student members of a national organization that provides professional development in the broad field of communication design.

The Student Competitive Show is held at McComas Gallery through March 23rd. Gallery Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10-4pm with a reception on Thursday, March 22nd beginning at 5:30pm.
