Co-workers, friends, family and former students gathered on June 19 at the Stuart C. Irby Jr. Studios in Jackson to honor longtime administrative assistant Janine Davis, who will retire at the end of the month.

Davis worked for the MSU School of Architecture’s fifth-year program in Jackson for 28 years.

In 2004, she was honored with by the university with the Zacharias Distinguished Staff Award. The award honors staff members who exemplify professionalism and dedication to MSU by performing beyond the call of duty to improve service, quality, and image of the department/unit; serve as a positive role model for other faculty, staff, and/or students; demonstrate outstanding accomplishments of significance based on initiative, cooperation, and ability to perform a job successfully; demonstrate a high degree of competence and expertise; and work beyond the boundaries of the job by participating in university or community service projects.

Most recently, Davis was awarded the College of Architecture, Art and Design Staff Award, which is given annually to one staff member in the college who exemplifies professionalism and dedication by performing above and beyond the job description; takes initiative on tasks; relates to others on the staff or faculty; and has demonstrated innovation or creativity in his/her job.
