Volunteers from AIAS (American Institute of Architecture Students) from Mississippi State University have set up an event for Saturday’s national
Green Apple Day of Service (Sept. 29).
The project, the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum Rain Garden (Take It Outside), is part of Phase 5 of a project to highlight the Blues Trail Marker designated for the Heritage Museum site in Starkville. Also included in this phase is a 400-square-foot green roof pavilion, a pervious concrete walk and 14 solar panels for the museum.
Representatives from the U.S. Green Building Council of Mississippi will be present at the event, which will take place at the museum from 9 a.m. to noon.
Activities will include painting and other small tasks.
All associated with the College of Architecture, Art, and Design are encouraged to wear a T-shirt representing the College. Volunteers should also wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Boots, hard hats and goggles are also recommended.
Anyone is welcome to participate and help with his great service project. Click here to volunteer! Or visit mygreenapple.org.
