On display December 1 through 11, 2023 in the Colvard Student Union Gallery, Contact F.23 features the work of two Mississippi State University graduating seniors of the Department of Art’s BFA program.
Jackson native Kaneesha Handy’s series, "We Are One," comments on the fragile beauty that coexists between humans and nature, capturing moments that are both mundane when isolated and powerful when forged together.
In her photographic series, "A Place Called Home," Maurissa Shumpert of Tupelo showcases interior and exterior domestic settings from her great grandparents’ home, documenting spaces void of people but filled with light and texture to keep their memories and her thoughts of them alive.
A public reception will be held Friday, December 1 from 5 – 6 p.m. also at the gallery, located on the second floor of the Colvard Student Union above Starbucks. Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
