“I have always loved art, and I chose to major in interior design because I like the technology involved. When most people think of interior design, HGTV is what comes to mind, but it’s so much more technical than what people think. We have access to cutting-edge programs, and it’s amazing how realistic the projects look in the end. We even use virtual reality to do a video walk-through of the space after the model is complete. After I graduate, I hope to focus on hospitality design.
The amazing Interior Design Program here impressed me from the start. The faculty is very welcoming, and my professors are always available to help.
Fresh Food Company! I love going on Sundays for the nice atmosphere and the tasty fried chicken.
Remember to take breaks, eat well, get sleep, and have fun. Don't stress!
Since touring campus and the CAAD departments, I knew MSU was for me. The Interior Design Program works in a studio-based setting that prepares you for real-world experience. The classroom sizes are smaller, so your professors actually know you and your strengths/ weaknesses.
The lake behind the Sanderson Center.
It’s okay to ask and admit you need help. Don’t be afraid to reach out.
I chose CAAD because of my love for art and design!
My favorite spot on campus is Einstein Bros. Bagels in the library! Who doesn’t love a good blueberry bagel with cream cheese?
I would tell my high school self to GO and travel, love yourself more, follow your heart and DO WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO!!!
One hour lecture, four hours laboratory. Introduction to manual drafting and tools/techniques used by interior designers in executing and reading graphic language in two dimensional form.
The main objective of this class is to learn a new language, the visual language of design communication. Students will be introduced to the tools and equipment required to create this language, and through a series of increasingly complicated exercises and drawings, students will begin to understand the communication of construction drawings using residential design as the medium.
Junior interior design majors at Mississippi State University visited Chicago from Sept. 30-Oct. 4, 2019 as part of their studio learning experience.
In addition to some free time to explore the city, students
