Artworks by Brent Funderburk will be featured in an upcoming national exhibit and in a noted book series, this fall.

His watercolor work, “Montem Somnia,” will appear in the 45th Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition, presented by the Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) in Evergreen, Colo. The RMNW competitive exhibition attracts entrants from throughout the United States and is regarded as one of the top watermedia exhibitions in the country. Juror Mary Ann Beckwith chose 75 works from 534 entries for the show, which is on exhibit from Sept. 8 to Oct. 27, 2018, with an opening reception at the center on Sept. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the CAE Main Gallery.

Funderburk’s “Angelus Vitae” and “Oaxaca” will appear in the international publication Splash 20: Creative Compositions, to be published in 2018.

According to the publisher, Artists Network/North Light Books, “A brilliant representation of contemporary watercolor, this 20th volume in the Splash series continues the proud tradition that has made Splash the longest-running “best of watercolor” competition series.” Jurors selected 126 artists in the upcoming publication, chosen from over 1,100 entries worldwide. Of these, only six are represented by two works of art.

A Professor Emeritus of Art and William L. Giles Distinguished Professor at Mississippi State University, Funderburk taught painting and drawing for 40 years before retiring in May, 2018.

He also serves on the Collections Committee of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Funderburk is a North Carolina native.
