A Mississippi State interior design major recently was awarded a scholarship from the International Furnishings and Design Association.

Molly Taylor, a Memphis native, received the IFDA Student Member Scholarship for $2,000 – one of nice offered this year by IFDA. Her classmate, Cary Reynolds, was also a scholarship recipient.

The student member scholarship is open to current, full-time undergraduate students, who are IFDA student members that have completed four design related courses.

Taylor said that she was awarded this scholarship based on an essay, design work examples, recommendation letters and her resume. She also said that the program’s director, Beth Miller, Ph.D., encouraged her to apply.

After graduation, Taylor plans to work in architecture or design.

“For my future plans,” Taylor said, “I hope to earn an internship at an architecture or design firm and one day help in planning a children's hospital.”
