Application Process
To be eligible for architecture scholarships at Mississippi State University, students must fill out the general scholarship application by the appropriate deadline.
Steps to apply for Scholarships at MSU
- Student must be admitted.
- Log in to your MyState account using your NetID and NetPassword.
- On the Banner tab, under the Financial Aid and Scholarships column, click "Submit/Revise General Scholarship Application."
- A new window will pop up, and you'll need to log in again using your NetID and NetPassword.
- When you're logging in for the first time, you'll need to complete the general application.
- Don't forget to click the "Save" button! When you're returning after your first log-in, you'll be able to see your saved information.
After you complete and submit your general application, you may have additional opportunities recommended to you based on your test scores, GPA, leadership and service, and applicant record. More opportunities may become available over time, so we encourage you to log in regularly and check your account to see if any additional recommendations appear.

Entering Transfer Students and Current Mississippi State Students: March 1 (for the following academic yr.)
Mississippi State University Architecture-Specific Scholarships
In addition to scholarships offered through the Office of Admissions and Scholarships and other scholarships, there are a variety of scholarships available for architecture students. The number of scholarships awarded and scholarship dollar amounts vary by year:
Acme Brick Company Scholarship
Applicants must be: entering the fifth-year design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum grade point average of 3.0; be of good moral character; and have demonstrated leadership ability and strong overall academic performance.
Angelo "Pops" Primos Computer Scholarship
Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students at Mississippi State University; entering the second-year design studio in the School of Architecture; and can demonstrate financial need. Established by Mrs. Primos Smith to honor her father in recognition of his support to young architects in Mississippi.
Boral Bricks, Inc. Annual Scholarship
Applicants must be entering first-year design studio in the School of Architecture at MSU, must be in good academic standing and can demonstrate financial need.
Boral Bricks Loyalty Scholarship
Open to incoming freshman and transfer students majoring in the College of Architecture, Art & Design with a minimum 3.0 GPA; transfer students must have a minimum of 48 transferable community college credit hours.
Charles H. Dean Jr. Annual Memorial Scholarship
Any students in their third- through fifth-year of design studio may apply. Applicants must be full-time students at Mississippi State University; have completed their second-year of design studio in the School of Architecture; residents of Mississippi; and can demonstrate financial need.
David L. Wooley Annual Scholarship
Established by Valerie Wooley in memory of her late husband, David L. Wooley, class of 1978. Candidates must be a full-time sophomore or junior enrolled in the School of Architecture and must maintain a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Eley Guild Hardy Architecture Annual Scholarship
In May 2007, Taylor Guild III and David Hardy established this scholarship to assist talented students in their fifth-year of study in the architecture program.
Erin Remerow Parsons Loyalty Scholarship
Open to incoming freshman and transfer students majoring in the College of Architecture, Art & Design with a minimum 3.0 GPA; transfer students must have a minimum of 48 transferable community college credit hours.
Joseph L. Echols Scholars Program
Candidates for the Joseph L. Echols Scholarship must meet the following criteria: be a current undergraduate and underrepresented architecture student; show strong work ethic and satisfactory academic performance by maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA; present a satisfactory portfolio of work; demonstrate financial need. Funds can be used for the following purposes: architectural studio and art-related supplies; program-required computers and/or software; MSU CAAD annual field trips; or study abroad programs.
JJAJ Endowed and Annual Scholarship
Established in 2019 by Jay and Jennifer Dorris, this scholarship is awarded to students in their third-, fourth-, or fifth-year of study in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University. Students must demonstrate financial need and must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Matt L. Virden III and M.L. Virden IV Memorial Scholarship
Students must be entering the third-year (or higher) of design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum 2.80 overall grade point average; be of good moral character; have demonstrated leadership; can demonstrate financial need; and be a resident of one of the following Mississippi Delta counties: Bolivar, Carroll, Coahoma, Desoto, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Panola, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica, Warren, Washington, Yazoo. Established by the Virden Family in 1994 to honor the distinguished careers of Matt L. Virden (architect) and M.L. Virden (engineer).
McCarty Architects Student Housing Team Architecture Scholarship
Applicants must be a third-, fourth-, or fifth-year student in good standing in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State.
McCarty Company Loyalty Scholarship
Open to incoming freshman and transfer students majoring in the College of Architecture, Art & Design with a minimum 3.0 GPA; transfer students must have a minimum of 48 transferable community college credit hours.
Mockbee Hall & Drake Scholarship
Applicants must be: entering the fifth-year design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum grade point average of 3.0; be of good moral character; and have demonstrated leadership ability.
Pryor & Morrow Annual Scholarships
Any students in their second- through fifth-year of design studio may apply; are full-time students at Mississippi State University; have completed their first-year design studio in the School of Architecture; are residents of Mississippi; and can demonstrate financial need.
Rowan Taylor Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be entering freshmen with a minimum 3.0 GPA; have demonstrated exceptional design work and ability to achieve exceptional design; and have demonstrated financial need.
Shelia Renea Jackson Endowed Scholarship
Candidates must be entering the fifth-year in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State and be in good standing. Preference is given to female African-American students and to students with financial need.
Stephanie Mihojevich Pizzetta Endowed Scholarships
Candidates must be full-time students at Mississippi State University; have completed their second-year of design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum grade point average of 3.0; and can demonstrate financial need. Established by Daria Pizzetta in memory of her mother. Ms. Pizzetta is a partner with H3 Hardy Architects in New York City.
STOA Architects Annual Scholarship ($5,000)
Established in January 2018, the STOA Architects Annual Scholarship is available to a deserving 4th or 5th-year student currently enrolled in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University. Qualified students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA.
External Scholarships Available to Architecture Students
AIA/AAF Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarship
Only students entering an accredited, professional degree program leading to a Bachelor or Master of Architecture are eligible for this scholarship. Nominees should currently be high school seniors or college freshmen. Eligibility is also extended to students attending a community college or a technical school who plan to transfer to an NAAB-accredited program. Students who have completed one or more years of a standard university curriculum are not eligible to apply. Interested applicants must apply through the AIA website.
Gensler Diversity Scholarship
Awards African-American students enrolled in U.S. not-for-profit NAAB-accredited architecture programs with academic scholarships and summer internship opportunities. Read more at the Gensler website.
National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) Scholarship
Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University; entering the second-year of the design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.0; be of good moral character; can demonstrate financial need; and be of a social group underrepresented in the field of Architecture.
StoneCraft Kitchen and Bath Design And Construction Scholarship
