I created these panel paintings through learning patience and attaining the ability to accept my family for who they are. My work is a combination of impressionism and abstract expression. This connects vibrant colors and various materials that complement each personality. The linear lines mold the design principles of this composition. My thesis project was inspired by the relationship that I share with my granny, sister, and niece. At times, these connections are strained, but I find that there is joy at the center of my art and our relationship. Much of the compositions are executed through mixed media, found objects, and borrowed items from each person. This allows me to relate mentally and recreate experiences through these objects. My intention was to experiment with diverse textures, colors, and materials to accurately represent my loved ones’ personalities so that people can get to know them; while also reminding them of who they are.
