Keum Taek Jung
Artist Statement
"We live in a space where we belong, and our imaginations build sensory connections to our surroundings. Being sensitive to our sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch contributes to our visual activities. The imaginary activities revolve around the way that our feeling exists within the space and the constant process of negotiation between the two. It is a continuum tied by an exploratory process that addresses the imaginary activities in relation to the space. The expression of imagination is revealed in visual activities that it takes to touch an artistic realm.
The imagery reflects my visual activities, and the relationship between imagination and visual activities produces a multi-layered world of symbolism. The shape and color represent symbols of abstraction and transformation. I hope people look at my work and think, “That is what I imagine”."
