How Will We Continue?
Thesis Statement
How Will We Continue evokes the inherent tension of transforming the properties and characteristics of materials into forms inspired by geological attributes. This process also acts as a metaphor for my experience with deconstruction expectations and developing my creativity and artistry.
Metal is a tenacious, industrial material that I have manipulated into organic masses; conversely, concrete is a fluid substance I have layered and weathered into volumetric shells. As the objects relate to each other, an orbiting field of texture and form is created. Formally, each separate sculpture relates to one another through their curvature and composition - an abstract sense of gravitational pull communicates that all substances repeat the continuous cycle of being together and separating again.
